A few weeks ago Brett’s message entitled “Sent” focused on purpose and mission. One line really hit me……….”Don’t just consume church, BE THE CHURCH”. With our new church location being located right next to new Denman Elementary School, we all have a perfect opportunity to “BE THE CHURCH”.
With the new School Impact Team. Our purpose will be to create a plan for how LifePoint Church can support the school’s staff, students, and families.
So, I ask you, what’s your purpose? What mission has God placed on your heart? Do you enjoy kids? Do you like encouraging other adults (staff)? Do you have ideas on how we can help the school? Maybe, you should serve on the School Impact Team!
Currently, this team will be lead by Joe Mally and we are looking for people who are willing to meet 1-2 times a month to brainstorm LifePoint’s relationship with the school. The plan is for these individuals to then serve as leads for different areas of service within the school.
I’m personally so excited for this new mission opportunity at LifePoint Church. I envision our members serving as mentors to students who need a little extra love, filling weekend food bags for those who are struggling to provide meals for their families, assisting staff with projects, or sending encouraging notes to staff. The opportunities are endless and we have a blank slate in front of us to discover the impact LifePoint Church can have on this school!
After a plan is developed, we will again reach out to LifePoint Church members for volunteers to serve on various projects for the school. We hope to start providing volunteers this coming 2018-19 school year, in some sort of capacity.
So, I challenge you………..how are you “BEING THE CHURCH?” How are you on mission for Christ? Is He calling you to serve on the School Impact Team?
