As we begin 2018, the reality of a new church home at 39th and Harrison is starting to take shape. Shortly before Christmas, Dave Wilde with Wildesign had the site plan, floor plans, elevations and mechanical/electrical/plumbing plans about 95% complete. The entire set of floor plans have been given to Maas Construction, our proposed general contractor, for definitive pricing. The design team, along with the elders, will review the estimated costs and compare it to our budget. This process should be completed before the end of January. Modifications to the plans and specifications will be made as necessary to meet our budget, while still ensuring that we can accomplish our ministry objectives with this new facility.
With the project budget fully defined, the design team can begin to make final selections. Decisions will be finalized regarding exterior building color, floor covering, wall color, cabinetry, furniture, and audio/visual equipment, just to name a few. As with any project like this, there are not always right and wrong answers. Many of the selections will come down to making the best decision with the information we have right now. Some of the selections will come down to a small group of people’s personal taste. This is where I would ask the LifePoint family for two things: prayers for wisdom that the design team makes the best possible decisions, and grace and understanding that this team doesn’t have all the answers and that there may be some disappointment with some of the decisions that are made. Many hours of prayer, team meetings, site visits, and vendor meetings have already taken place. Please pray that God would continue to guide our decisions. Specifically pray for Joe Mally, Jayson Bennett, Chris Woodard, Randy Shover, Jessica Cornwell, Wendy Koontz and myself as we make final decisions and finalize selections.
As a builder, I can tell you that for me often the most exciting day of a project is the day we break ground. For LifePoint and this church building project, that day is likely coming in the next 90 days. I can’t tell you how excited I am about this project and the impact I believe it will have on not just our LifePoint family, but our community as well. Please join me in praying for a smooth building process! I pray that God will lead us through this entire project and that we will completely depend on Him!
