Disciples make disciples; churches plant churches. This is just what the people of Jesus do. On Sunday (6/3), we announced a new missions partnership to help plant Bethesda Grace Church in New York City.
Bethesda Grace Church will begin services in Manhattan in September 2018. New York is one of the least reached cities in the US, with Manhattan having the fewest Christians of any of the five boroughs! The need is great, but so is the opportunity. From this strategic global city, the gospel can impact the world.
Although NYC may seem far away, there is a Quincy connection at Bethesda Grace. The lead pastor of this new church will be Chuck Hetzler, who spent the last five years serving at First Union Congregational Church on 12th and Maine. At LifePoint, we’ve never been about our name or our kingdom… it’s all about Jesus and His Kingdom! Our partnership with Bethesda Grace is just that: a unique opportunity to be about Jesus’ Kingdom work. Join us in praying for Chuck, Karen, and their kids! In addition to prayer, we’ll partner with this new church plant financially for a season (Bethesda Grace plans to be financially independent after three years). We’re exploring other creative ways that we can serve and support this young church. Be sure to join us on July 1st (both services), where you’ll get a chance to meet the Hetzler family and hear more about Bethesda Grace and the mission of Jesus.
LifePoint, I’m excited about this partnership: what it means for the Hetzlers, what it means for NYC, but also what it means for us!
*I’m praying that God would use this partnership to stoke big faith here at LifePoint.
*I’m praying that God would use this conversation about church planting to clarify our vision for what God wants to do in and through us as a church.
*I’m praying that God would use this season to challenge all of us to live on mission every day with the same intentionality and purpose – whether we’re sent across the world, across the street, or across the office!
LifePoint, pray with me – and LIVE SENT!
