We hate to wait: traffic, the checkout line, slow internet. Worse yet: waiting on God. The Hebrew prophet Habakkuk cries out to God, “O Lord, how long will I cry for help, and you will not hear?” Waiting is all the worse when we’re waiting for God to act in the middle of our pain.
You can probably relate. Been there? The book of Habakkuk is the prophet’s real-time wrestling with fear, doubt, and disappointment. In moments of disappointment, we can either grow better or bitter. The difference is learning to trust God’s heart when times get hard.
